Glasslines

We all know how difficult it can be to trust somebody in a difficult situation. Sometimes, relationships become complicated, and our heads become saturated with questions and doubts. We start asking if the other person will be there for us no matter what. And that’s the exact moment where we know we probably would do that. This is why we need reassurance for all those little lines that started cracking the glass. And this fragility is beautifully framed by the English artist Mavangelo in his latest single “Glasslines.” Will you hold me if I were to fall? Or instead, will you hold me if I try? These are just a few of the questions that cross our minds when we are in love, but we are looking for confirmation of our feelings. The fact is that we need someone who will stay close to us despite problems. Because this is what we would do, and we want our feelings to be shared. But it’s hard to tell if we do not trust first. As Mavangelo states as well in his bedroom pop and jazzy track: “Every promise feels like a fragile glass”, because we expect promises to be held without really knowing if that will ever happen. This type of single is exactly what we need in these times. It’s a delicate theme that nowadays I feel finds more resonance than ever with the implementation of digital era complications such as ghosting, gaslighting, and isolation.
