Unplug The Earth

Is there something in the air up North? There’s a particular emotional honesty that bands from that corner of England seem to access without effort, and Lomens are no exception. But where others lean into the traditional post-punk palette of grit and gloom, Lomens twist it forward, fusing their vulnerability with synth textures and cleaner lines that somehow feel just as raw. “Unplug The Earth” isn’t just a cry for release; it’s a song of reckoning, one that wears personal disillusionment like a uniform and still dares to be danceable. Written long before its release, and reimagined in their own Green Door Music studio, the track marks a shift for the band — not only in sound but in spirit. It’s the first without their lead guitarist, and you can hear the result in Jason’s full-throttle takeover on strings, paired with an uncharacteristically bright synth backbone. But brightness doesn’t mean comfort. Lomens use sonic polish not to smooth things out, but to draw sharper contrast around the fractures. “Unplug the Earth” aches with quiet rebellion, against systems, relationships, and even one’s own fatigue, but it does so with the clarity of a band who know exactly where they stand, even when the ground is shifting.
