Hole On Layers

Daisuke Tanabe returns with "Hole on Layers," his first major solo project since "Floating Underwater" in 2014. Following several collaborative efforts and EPs, including his work with UK artist Kidkanevil on the kidsuke project, Tanabe ventures into a realm of rhythmic innovation and lush textures in this latest release. "Hole on Layers" is characterized by offbeat rhythms, unconventional time signatures, and vibrant beats. From the subtle rhythms of "plot lost" and "plastic tray" to the dynamic force of "stomp nekozilla-san" and "50dpi landscape," Tanabe invites listeners into a sonically rich world. Each track fluidly transitions, layering sounds that build and fade with intensity and nuance. Released on the Borrowed Scenery label, which Tanabe co-founded with Yosi Horikawa, "Hole on Layers" showcases his sonic evolution. Tracks like "3am cruise" and "driftwood" exemplify his knack for crafting expansive yet intimate soundscapes. This album isn't just an evolution; it’s a deep dive into connecting with the audience and stretching the boundaries of what electronic music can be—a must-listen for those who appreciate layered, thoughtful tunes.
